Face Mask Roundup for Photographers

Let’s face the facts…no pun intended. Face masks are going to be with us for a while.

Being totally honest, I’ve tried quite a few masks but haven’t worn a comfortable one yet. Especially when wearing a mask for multiple hours.

But I have found a few masks that are less uncomfortable than others.

The one quality that all the best fitting masks have in common…they’re held in place around the head instead of the ears.

With that in mind, here are a few of my favorites so far.

Rendall Co.

The Sentry mask is similar to the Baggu, listed below. However, this one comes in subtle colors and fabrics. It has a copper nose insert that will help with keeping viewfinders and glasses from fogging up and it looks like the height is adjustable from the video on their website.

They’ve also included an insert area for additional filters.

The good deeds continue and for every purchase they donate one unit.

I’ve purchased two…I’ll update this with my thoughts when they arrive.

Obasan

In terms of comfort, this Obasan mask is great. Obasan is a high-end bed manufacturer so the materials they’re using are very sturdy.

The elastic is round, instead of flat, it fits snug and doesn’t sag too much over time.

Downside for this mask is the fabric is heavy, which is both an upside and downside, and there’s no nose wire so they tend fog up my glasses.

Bonobos

As of mid-June these have just been released. Mine are in the mail so I’ll have to give you an update once they arrive in late-July.

But as with all things Bonobos these masks seem to be well thought out.

The fabrics and patters are both fun and dressy. There’s a nose wire which keeps glasses from fogging and they include a space for an optional filter.

Toile

These masks are works of art. They’re less versatile compared to other masks out there. But, wow…they certainly make up for what they’re lacking with beauty and style.

Baggu

These are probably the most uniquely built of all the masks I’ve seen.

I haven’t worn these yet but the concept looks more comfortable and customizable than most masks. And if you enjoy brighter colors these may be for you.

Rawganique

This is one of the more functional designs. One single over the head band makes is really easy to wear. It’s a heavier fleece fabric but makes up for that with wearability and being easy to put on and take off.

Those are the best that I’ve found so far. As this list grows I’ll be sure to add more options.

So…Are you using any of these? Another brand?

What are you using and why? Leave us a comment with the masks you’ve found. We’d love to share as many options as possible!

Hope this helps as we navigate the new world of COVID and how it intersects with our businesses.

Lastly, none of the brands listed here have sponsored this post.
